Understanding the Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic
This course is designed to help students apply the principles of virology, immunology, public health, data science and population medicine in evaluating the current public health policy responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the learning activities will focus on current events and daily topics, they will be altered and refined to align with unfolding circumstances and policy decisions.
Daily group assignments will help students gain:
- An understanding of viral biology, host defense and infectious disease dynamics
- The ability to gather, understand and intelligently apply biostatistical and epidemiological data in designing practical solutions
- An appreciation of the behavioral, socioeconomic, and other factors that impact health risk and community compliance
- An understanding of the needs and constraints of business owners.
Who should enroll:
Students studying Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Public Health, One Health, or related programs.
100% Online, Synchronized Course
This is a one-week course that requires full day participation for five days.
The course is offered:
- July 13th-July 20th
- Morning session: Instructors will present problem relating to COVID-19
- Students spend the day with instructor check-ins solving the problem
- Afternoon session: Synchronized session with instructor
