Dr. Mitek, a 2011 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, is a veterinary anesthesiologist and teaching assistant professor. She's passionate about anesthesia and pain management, and exploring innovative educational methods to engage learners — especially in online learning formats.
She completed her small animal rotating internship, anesthesiology residency and Master’s Degree at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Today she splits her time between teaching veterinary students in the classroom, as well as online, in addition to serving as the College’s Small Animal Extension Veterinarian for the Office of Public Engagement.
She lives in Illinois with her husband, and in her free time you can find her watching Disney movies on the couch with her two daughters, a blind cat and a deaf dog!
